Dutch School, c. 1800 A resting hunter

It remains a so far unsolved mystery, who might be the artist to this very fine and skillful study of a hunter, taking a rest while enjoying the sun.

An artist from the surroundings of Jacob van Strij has been suggested, though also Johannes Ernst Marcus might be a candidate.

This far, it remains unsolved, though the free rendering and most convincing use of brown wash proves it to be a most skillful draughtsman.
